Ahhhh, the joys of summer. The smell of freshly cut grass and warm breezes rushing through the trees always makes me feel so young. The brightness of summer sunshine brings back memories of spending time with friends. After being freed from the tedium of school, we’d all break out our bikes and roam the neighborhood looking for adventure. I’ve been looking forward to the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum video game for months. Previews indicate the game will capture the dark and moody atmosphere that a good Batman video game should have. I don’t know if the gameplay will be any good, but the demo videos show some pretty amazing moves. The voice talents of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill sealed the deal. Batman: Arkham Asylum is a must have addition to this Batfan’s video game shelf.

I admit that I consciously avoided reading All-Star Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder by Frank Miller and Jim Lee when it began in 2005. Why, you ask? I loved Frank Miller’s work on Daredevil in the 1970s. He almost single-handedly revived Batman as a serious character with The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One in the 1980s. He reintroduced hard-boiled crime noir to comics with Sin City. Then, in my humble opinion, he stumbled when he revisited the Batverse with The Dark Knight Strikes Again in 2001.
